Leveraging CAPE-OPEN for enhanced multiphase pump design and process simulation

CAPE-OPEN 2025 Annual Meeting — Ghent, Belgium

Abstract

At the CAPE-OPEN 2025 Annual Meeting, I presented how IFP Energies nouvelles connected its in-house multiphase pump (MPP) design software to the CAPE-OPEN Python Unit Operation interface. This integration lets MPP designs be dropped directly into full process simulations, so the benefits and limits of multiphase pumping can be assessed within emerging process schemes. The talk also touched on IFPEN’s broader use of and contribution to the CAPE-OPEN ecosystem, including CAPE-OPEN interfaces added to its in-house thermodynamic server.
